Samuel Rankin Latta letters, 1861-1886.

Transcription of an exchange of letters between Captain Samuel R. Latta and his wife during his service in the Confederate States Army at Fort Wright, Tennessee; in southeastern Missouri; at Columbus, Kentucky; and at Corinth, Mississippi. Latta's letters describe his regiment's participation in the Battle of Belmont and the Battle of Shiloh. Also included are three letters from a brother living in Boston, Massachusetts, and two letters from a school teacher.
